Biosolids & Residuals Committee

Vision

Inspire a spirit of collaboration among local environmental professionals and the public in an effort to minimize impacts on the environment through the advancement of state-of-the-art treatment technologies and a science-based understanding of health issues involved with biosolids and residuals management.

Mission

The Committee will be a force in identifying emerging trends and promoting “best-practices” for the treatment and disposal of biosolids and residuals in the state of Arizona by:

  • Promoting the exchange of information between the regulatory community, biosolids producers, end-users, academia, and consultants;
  • Identifying common goals, sharing success stories, and providing an open forum for the exchange of views;
  • Creating a focus on public education to gain the support necessary to implement beneficial practices;
  • Serving as advocate of beneficial uses of biosolids.

Strategies

  • Organize biosolids and residuals specialty conferences.
  • Organize biosolids and residuals specialty workshops.
  • Solicit papers and presentations for the AZ Water annual conferences and AZ Water lunchtime seminar series.
  • Organize Committee focus meetings and biosolids and residuals sessions during the Annual AZ Water conferences.
  • Organize wastewater treatment facility tours.
  • Author regular AZ Water newsletter articles to highlight important issues, events, pending regulations or upcoming WERF or National Academy reports.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate information on the AZ Water website.
