As a past recipient of the AZ Water Scholarship, I have a first-hand understanding and appreciation of the tremendous impact that the scholarship can have on the life of a student. Scholarship funds are well-spent as students attempt to meet the financial demands of tuition, books, and living expenses.
The scholarship also serves to attract and cultivate the interest of future professionals in the field of water andwastewater treatment. After being awarded the scholarship, I continued into graduate school, during which time I focused on the removal and inactivation of pathogens in water and efforts to limit the formation of disinfection byproducts.
Having connected with AZ Water, I became more involved at the Annual Conference and the Tri-State Seminar, eventually delivering several presentations at these events. The AZ Water Scholarship was an important stepping stone in my path to my current position as a professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Arizona State University.
Today, my interest in water and wastewater in Arizona continues to intensify as I interact with brilliant young students as they develop and evolve into successful water professionals.
