Lingxiao Wang from the City of Phoenix will be presenting on the City's Water Infrastructure Power Redundancy Program. The City is currently implementing a multi-phased Water System Power Redundancy program that is focused on providing standby power to keep critical water facilities energized during local and regional utility power outages. This presentation highlights the City’s planning and implementation of the Power Redundancy Program. Various aspects were examined and considered before implementation of the program such as technology alternatives, capacity of standby power, type of power outages, outage duration, response time, available services and local supports, staff’s familiarity with the technology and equipment, and last but not least, cost effectiveness. Phase I of the city wide program is currently under construction which includes three critical booster sites and two Water Treatment Plants.
