This webinar will provide an overview of achieving nitrification with biofilm processes.

Microorganisms form biofilms when provided a surface to cultivate. Adding media, whether plastic, sand, or stone, to wastewater treatment processes increases the surface area available for cultivation. Hence, biofilms develop on the media, increasing capacity and resilience of wastewater treatment processes.

Nitrification, which consists of slow growing microorganisms that are sensitive to process perturbations, is enhanced with biofilm technologies.

The webinar will focus on two biofilm technologies used for nitrification at wastewater treatment facilities: 1) moving bed biofilm reactors (MBBR); and 2) submerged attached growth reactors (SAGR).

Applications of the two technologies will be described, including increasing the capacity and resilience of mechanical plants, treating industrial wastes such as leachate and mining effluent, and post-lagoon nitrification with simultaneous BOD/TSS polishing and disinfection.

One PDH will be awarded for attending this event.

Attendance is limited to the first 100 registrants. Please note that multiple users can share a single registration if the webinar is to be displayed on a large format screen at your site.
