Interdependencies between Water, Energy, and Food

The U.S. Departments of Energy (DOE) and Agriculture (USDA) are asking for input on the interdependencies between water, energy, and food.  The DOE and USDA are looking for your ideas, experiences, and expertise on these interconnections, including challenges you've overcome or solutions that could be implemented on a larger scale.  Please submit your input at through June 27th (this is part of the "National Day of Civic Hacking").  Suggested topics include:

  • Using recovered resources from wastewater treatment plants as agricultural fertilizer;
  • Decreasing the water impact of biofuels;
  • Determining the embedded energy and water in food; and
  • Reducing food waste or using in beneficially.
