2020 AZWater Conference Abstract Submissions - Instructions

CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

93rd ANNUAL CONFERENCE & EXHIBITION

 

Conference Dates and Location: April  14th – 16th, 2020 at the Phoenix Convention Center, Phoenix, AZ


Please consider sharing your knowledge with over 2,000 of your peers.  To be considered, all you have to do is submit brief abstract on your proposed presentation topic. Abstracts that are well thought out and pertinent to one of the identified categories will have the best likelihood of being accepted.

GENERAL INFORMATION, FORM INSTRUCTIONS and SELECTION CRITERIA

GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Please limit submissions to one abstract for each primary author. If a single primary author is found to have more than one selected abstract, the author will be asked to provide a secondary primary author - or the presentation may removed from the program.

  • Do NOT duplicate submissions. You will receive a confirmation after submission.

  • Do NOT Wait for the abstract deadline to submit abstracts.  This deadline will not be extended, and exceptions may not be accommodated.  Complete your submission significantly prior to the deadline if possible. Submit early to avoid traffic at the deadline which may cause errors that prevent successful abstract submission.

  • Provide all required information.

  • Comply with size limitations. Submission fields are character limited.

  • Omit graphics, attachments, or other additional information.  The online submission form only accepts text. Graphics or attachments will NOT be considered.

  • Review submission confirmation message. Once submitted, a confirming email from conference@azwater.org will be sent to the email address entered on the form containing the information submitted.

  • Presentation time limit. Generally, presentations are limited to 20-23 minutes with time for questions following.

FORM INSTRUCTIONS
  • Complete Fields for: First Name, Last Name, Email, Organization, Work Phone and Cell Phone for each author/presenter and designate who will be the Primary contact/presenter
  • Provide Biography; Short biography of the presenter not to exceed 100 words. This summary will be read by the moderator before the presentation and therefore should be no longer than 15-20 seconds in length when read aloud.  if there are two speakers, please provide bios for each speaker.  These will be displayed on one bio slide prior to the presentation, and both should be limited to 40 words per speaker.
  • Provide Title; Title not to exceed 15 words.
  • Provide Summary; a short paragraph description of the session presentation not to exceed 100 words. This summary will be included in the conference marketing brochure if selected.
  • Select Topic Areas: Select up to four check boxes for the categories in which your proposed presentation fits.
  • Select Primary Topic: Select from the dropdown menu the category in which your proposed presentation best fits.
  • Provide Abstract;Provide sufficient detail to allow evaluation of the proposed topic –Not to exceed 400 words.
  • Provide Biography; Short biography of the presenter not to exceed 100 words. Additional Opportunities check boxes are intended to connect Authors/Presenters to additional opportunities within AZ Water and WILL NOT affect the chances of your submission being chosen for the AZ Water Conference. Checking these boxes will allow you to be considered to author a Kachina article or to present at another AZ Water venue, including specialty seminars, workshops, training and webinars.

Fresh Ideas Candidate (if applicable); “Fresh Ideas” is specifically for Professionals under 35 years of age or who have less than 10 years of experience in the water industry and have never attended ACE (AWWA Annual Conference & Exhibition). Selected presentations will be voted on by their AZ Water Conference audience; the highest ranked presentation will present a poster and receive a free trip to ACE20 (Orlando, FL)!

Vendors and Manufacturers Presentation check box is intended to ensure that manufacturers, vendors, and technology developers in the water/wastewater industry that have a new or innovative product to provide solutions in the industry are properly identified. SELECTION CRITERIA

Abstracts will be reviewed and judged by the Conference Committee on the basis of the following criteria:

 

• Relevance to the water industry
• Describes the paper in a clear and concise manner
• Significance of the work to the target audience
• Originality of the work, including new concepts, innovations, or data
