Energy Management and Sustainability Committee

Vision

Inspire collaboration among local water and wastewater professionals in the fields of energy management, system optimization, renewable and alternative energy, and sustainability.

Mission

The Committee will seek to assist Arizona water and wastewater utilities with becoming more energy efficient and sustainable by:

  • Promoting the exchange of information between the water and wastewater service utilities, government agencies, academia, and consultants;
  • Identifying common goals, sharing success stories, and providing an open forum for the exchange of views;
  • Educating water and wastewater professionals on the nexus between water and energy.

Strategies

  • Organize specialty conferences and workshops in the areas of energy management, resource recovery, renewable and alternative energy, and water loss control.
  • Solicit papers and presentations for the AZ Water annual conferences and AZ Water lunchtime seminar series.
  • Organize sessions on energy management, renewable and alternative energy, resource recovery, and water loss control during the Annual AZ Water conferences.
  • Organize tours showcasing energy management, resource recovery, and alternative energy technologies.
  • Author regular AZ Water newsletter articles to highlight important issues and events related to energy.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate information on the AZ Water website.
  • Make sure members are aware of education resources (webinars).
  • Collaborate with energy providers.
  • Survey members on what topics they want to learn more about.
  • Reach out to all people involved in the water industry (include ground level staff).
